Oh hello. I'm looking for a bit of feedback on a silly thing I built. Put simply, it's a tiny app that helps you see number formats in different languages and locales - yeah... πŸ₯± maybe? Anyways, here it is: https://lnkd.in/dVqtbqTpI put this together because I was looking for something smallish and uniqueish to help me utilise some new skills I've picked up.I'm looking for any feedback at all. Shoot from the hip. Try and break it. Point out the bad. Visit it and say nothing so I can increase my analytics and feel good about myself. Anything at all!

I can see the utility in this immediately and started playing around with it. I am a potential super tested given what I do. Would love to chat.Currencies don't seem to be right. I switched to Spain and it still said $ (should have been €), and when I did Brazil, it also said $ when R$ is the official abbreviation. The position did change correctly, though.

Very small nit: in measures, it seems to always prioritize the globally accepted measurements (ie meters)Bug report: if I select a new locale (let’s say Afrikaans), scroll down to the bottom, and then from there open the locale box and try to click β€œpick a random locale” or β€œreset to your browser locale” nothing happens. (This is not true if you’re not scrolled down)This is cool!

I think the abbreviation for megabit is Mb, not Mbit. But hey, I could wrong. Fun app though. It's like the worldometer for units.

Love the concept. Will bookmark and share. One UX bug: when I open the region combo box and start typing β€œfr,” it repositions in a way that the most natural fit (France, fr-FR) is above the screen. It took me a while to find it.One UX nit: as the clock ticks, it keeps repositioning because of the centering. It’s a bit distracting. I recommend a fixed-width font for that element.

This is great πŸ‘‹ Jake Holmannn, I think it'll be really useful at times. My only comments are that you should also have a non-breaking space between the magnitude and the unit in temperature, i.e. 30 Β°C, like you also have for all the other measurements. For plane angles, the standard units would be degrees, using degrees Β°, minutes ', and seconds '', or radians, using rad. There should be no space between the magnitude and the unit for degrees, i.e. 30Β° is correct, but a space is needed for radians, i.e. Ο€ rad.

You should have a feature that does conversion between metric and statute, but detects that you have an UWHD monitor in order to display all the decimals.

πŸ•΅οΈ Are you still *only* relying on data insights to understand usage on your app or site? Or maybe you're spending days of time and money to recruit for in-person user observation? You're missing a tool in your belt. You can be watching video-like playbacks of exactly what your users are doing on your site or app, seeing where they're struggling, or hitting roadblocks in your carefully crafted interface.Trust me, once you put this in place, you'll be reaching for the popcorn.

No single person or group is the "voice of the user" anymore than the user's themselves. But as a product developer, you can harvest valuable insights from your user and customer facing teams for their unique perspective. When was the last time you talked to your internal teams about their user and customer interactions?#linkedintips #product #ux #software #technology #digital

So you think using your own product gives you user insight? Think again champ. No matter how hard you try, you're never going to be able to think like your users. Nothing will replace actually talking to them. Convince me otherwise.#product #ux #development

My product/website analytics tool stack is looking a bit dusty. What's your go to tool or service when it comes to gathering and analysing behavioural insights in your apps or sites? Here's a few I've looked at or used before, but looking for my network's insight and suggestions:* Plausible - Not used it but heard good things. Looks like a nice, simple alternative to Google Analytics. Possibility for self-hosting a plus.* Pendo - Didn't particularly like it for the insights gathering, but loved it for the Messaging and Surveying. Has it improved?* FullStory - Didn't much use it for analytics, but it was an absolute godsend for troubleshooting customer issues, launch war rooms, and literally seeing where users struggled in an app.* Mixpanel - Bit of an OG perhaps, is it showing its age by now and there's better alternatives, or still the go to?

You might not have heard of "Product Inclusion", but if you're designing products for public use, you're going to need to understand what building for inclusion means. Not only does it make good business sense, we all have an ethical duty to be building to exclude no one. Come listen to Gabi and Lav about the work we've been doing to help teams build inclusive products and apps, and why it needs to be part of your product development approach.

So pleased to have been even a small part of this work. It is so difficult for kids going through school, and just generally growing up, in our increasingly online and connected world. We have a duty, as people contributing to that online and connected world, to ensure our most vulnerable are educated and protected against the many dangers. I hope Tozi will be a tremendous help to all kids.Big shout out to the incredibly caring and insightful team at Dublin City University's Anti-Bullying Centre, and for the support and backing from Vodafone Foundation.
