We've put together a selection of some of the best and most useful gifts you can give a cyclist under £50, and there's not a pizza cutter in sight...

Madison Crypto glasses

10

Affordable shades for all cycling disciplines

Buy now for £39.95 from Cyclestore

Plenty of coverage

Fends off fog well

Replacement lenses aren't too expensive

Might be a bit big for small faces

The Madison Crypto sunglasses received rare full marks by reviewer Liam earlier this year, and for good reason. They're cheap, and offer incredible performance whether you're on a road, gravel or mountain bike.

Madison says the plastic the glasses are constructed from have memory so they can flex before returning to their original shape, and the single piece lens is interchangeable and impact and scratch resistant.

They also fend off fog pretty well and provide exceptional coverage and comfort, making them easy to recommend.

9

Wrap up warm on your post-Christmas bike rides

Buy now for £12 from Sportful

Great breathability

Close fit

Very soft-feeling fabric

Washes well

Slightly tight fit to remove when ridin

A neck warmer is a nice addition to any cyclist's wardrobe, particularly for those who still venture outside during winter.

We rated the Sportful SRK Neck Warmer as a stellar choice for a reliable and stylish accessory for wintry rides. There are four other colours (including hi-vis) to choose from, too.

It provides excellent wind-blocking capabilities and proved invaluable during chilly rides for our reviewer.

Velocio Arm Warmer

9

Premium arm warmers for your off-season spins

Buy now for £46 from Velocio

Lightweight

Packable

Great fit

Pricey

Arm warmers are another staple of the year-round cyclist's wardrobe, particularly useful as they can easily be added or removed during a ride if you find the forecast was incorrect...

There are lots of different arm warmers on the market, but we like these from Velocio (even though they're a bit pricier than some other options) because they're stripped back to basics. No silicone, grippers or the like, and yet they stay put and offer a generous length.

Rebecca Bland

Rebecca has been writing about bikes for four years, after a typically ill-timed career change pre-pandemic. She's been riding bikes since she can remember, and fell back in love with them after realising it was faster, cheaper, and more fun than getting the bus to work. Nowadays she enjoys all kinds of bikes, from road to eMTB and is training her border collie pup to become a trail dog.

As an urban commuter cyclist I really want a set of indicators that actually work.
I've bought 4 now.
The first was great, apart from the battery life in the remote (about a week and not rechargeable).
The 2nd was junk.
But I've actually got two now that are quite good. I wouldn't fit them to a Pinarello, but for a budget commuter bike they don't look stupdily out of place, get drivers' attention and work pretty reliably.|
No nodding dogs or novelty illuminated balls though. I may be stupid, but I'm not THAT stupid.
